The Ford Maverick for 2022 was revealing a few weeks ago. Prototypes are out being testing with everything from bed caps to window air deflectors. Also, one pickup was testing out with its towing process. Moreover, the same 2022 Ford Maverick prototype is wearing those window air deflectors. They are a $120 dealer-installing option. It is sporting a host of additional black trim pieces worth discussing.
Ford Maverick Black Trim
The all-wheel-drive pickup, the Cactus Gray XL, is packing Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 under the hood. It has a set of steelie-style wheels. The truck’s various black trim is eye-catching. Moreover, In addition to the aforementioned window air deflectors and factory pieces like the front grille, door handles, fender badges, and lower bumpers, there’s a lot more dark cladding present as well.
Additional Trim Pieces
Finished in black, there’s a scoop of sorts on the hood. Moreover, it’s unclear if the apparatus is functional or not. Then, down the sides, there are additional trim pieces that are present on the lower portion of the doors. They could, in fact, help protect against those people that don’t pay attention when they fling their doors open in the parking lots. As well as runaway shopping carts.
More black plastic spans the entire lower portion of the cab beneath those trim pieces. It flows right into the matching fender flares, too. Moreover, the trim continues all the way to the rear and adds a little styling flair to the compact pickup. That is in no small part thanks to a few curves here and there.
The tailgate trim is also blacking out in addition to the rear bumper. It surrounds Ford’s Blue Oval with the contrasting color. Then, finally, the top portion of the bed is covering in black plastic trim as well. It is designing to protect the bodywork from damage when the owners are loading things in the cargo area.
There is a lot of contrasting black plastic in this particular prototype. It is sure to conjure up mixed reactions. Yet, if nothing else, some of the well-placed trim does help protect the pickup’s bodywork from the types of hazards that all vehicles are, in fact, bound to face on an almost daily basis.
