Volvo and Polestar are introducing a new over-the-air software update for the XC40 Recharge and Polestar 2 electric vehicles.
Volvo C40 Recharge
The update does consist of a new Range Assistant in-car app. It is releasing in a beta version for the infotainment system that is powered by Android Automotive OS. It is already installing on the Volvo C40 Recharge which is already in production in Belgium.
The Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2 who have this app optimize the driving range of their electric car. It is to more further involve smart energy management and advice on the driving systems from an efficiency perspective.
Range Assistant
The Range Assistant is embedded in the Android-powered infotainment system. It offers drivers a clear and precise indication of the approximate range and real-time energy consumption. Therefore, it does also helps them understand the main factors that affect their driving range. For example, the Eco Climate range optimizer functionality in the app can, moreover, adjust the climate system. This would be to automatically improve driving range.
In fact, Volvo and Polestar are going to continue developing the app on the path to full release with additional features coming later, including the coaching of drivers to adjust the driving style to maximize range.
